  • It's all been said, this pedal is a nice alternative to the big dogs, i.e. death metal, grunge, metal zone. High muthafucking gain!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Good Points: ear destroying screech super high gain!!!!!
  • Bad Points: the on/off switch is shitty, mines already fucked. she's stuck on forever, I guess that's better than the alternative. Crappy color

  • i got one of these before I got a death metal, because everyone had a death metal, and these were less common in noise setups. but really, the death metal reigns supreme at every shortcoming this pedal has. if you can get one really really cheap, it's a cool pedal, but i wouldn't get another one. the death metal is just better. unless you use one of these before a death metal, that'd be cool.
  • Good Points: - shit tons of gain!
  • Bad Points: - muddy, flat note bass - not nearly enough high end

  • High. Fucking. Gain. Put it at the very end of a Rupture loop to really drive everything behind it. I also highly suggest using it with a contact microphone.
  • Good Points: Well built. Distorts without mercy. THE GAIN! OH GOD THE GAIN!
  • Bad Points: Lacks dynamics at times.
  • Price Paid: US$45.00

  • Though the corrosion & metal X may be so similar to the ear to the point that any difference between them is a matter of circuitry, this is clearly a altogether different sounding pedal; on the level of the corrosion & death metal; with a more "rounded" sound than either of those pedals. It's a bassier, more filled out corrosion sound. Clearly different from the corrosion/metal X.
  • Good Points: one of the most harsh DOD distortions, holds its own against the death metal & corrosion.
  • Bad Points: none
  • Price Paid: US$0.00

  • contrary to what everyone says, this extreme distortion, and the corrosion aren't exactly the same pedal... if your ears can't tell this to you by giving these boys a side by side comparison, then best take a look inside the box.... similar layout, but clearly different components, and it certainly showed to me when I tried to add the same bends to both of these pedals and the same results did not occur, that is actually a blessing in disguise, as both pedals have really interesting bends awaiting you.
  • Good Points: strong, loud, solid distortion. Great bends to find in this beast
  • Bad Points: not as powerful and sick as a death metal, but then again if I just wanted another death metal, I'd go get one. Bend this pedal, and all it's ilk, and your complaints will cease

  • i think this thing is ok. i use it in my setup but honestly it's not all that. sometimes it seems to just add an even-keeled fuzz where i'd prefer more crunch, wail and histrionics. i do use it in my setup but i actually prefer the boss metal zone which i also use. the metal zone, by comparison, has much more dynamic EQ controls and adds a more severe distortion when cranked. not a bad deal for the price though. i'm not sure if GC even carries these bitches anymore.

  • This is indeed the same as the FX70C Corrosion and FX70 Metal X, but with one major exception: the power adapter is a standard barrel-type, Boss-style adapter rather than the obscure DOD plug-type adapters. A welcome change. The Corrosion and Big Fat Pig have lame, cutesy names for the knobs, while the FX70 Metal X and this Extreme have standard names: level, low, high, and gain.
  • Good Points: The best distortion for high gain and intense distortion.
  • Bad Points: None.

  • i don't see what all the hype is around this pedal, it doesn't do anything amazing for my ears. i prefer my death metal for all-out distortion. i supposed it is a "grunge pedal on 11" - but nothing more. maybe mine isn't tweaked properly? still a worthwhile pedal just not the holy grail of distortion.
  • Good Points: er its a distortion pedal. it distorts.
  • Bad Points: doesn't live up to the hype, but for the price it was well worth it.

  • i found this pedal in portland, or at guitar center. for you can't go wrong. i heard this was just like the corrosion pedal so instantly i had to get it. this distortion is great. i'm still working with it. its pretty neck and neck with the death metal pedal which is great, too. i think this is going to be my key distortion for my set-up. nice low end rumblings and nice highs also. cruchy as hell. a must for all noise artists, get it or settle for less.
  • Good Points: not to keen on the color, oh well. sturdy dod casing, with the exception of the plastic cover on the footswitch(has a tendency to break)
  • Bad Points: nothing yet, see good points.

  • The DOD Extreme Distortion GFX70 is the same as the Corrosion pedall, so my previous review of the corrosion also applies here. It is capable of bowel churning lows, crispy crunchy mids, and paint pealing highs... This pedal is a must have for all harsh noise artists.
  • Good Points: the same FX70 we know and love as the corrosion, big pig, and metal x. Now available again for non- collector scum prices...
  • Bad Points: none, except its only available at the geetar center.
