The Funk-A-Duck is an envelope control filter which can be used to produce a wide range of "synthetic" analog-ish sounds. The input causes a control signal to be generated, which goes up and down as the input signal loudness contour goes up and down. This in turn sweeps the filter frequency back and forth.

- this is a great filter, hi-pass/lo-pass. but like gr-eh said the learning curve is steep. you may think its a pedal how hard can it be, well it can get to areas where you will not hear your signal at all and can be hard to dial it back to an audible area. but i can get some great rumbles and swathing auto filter type effects with it for dramatic noise. it does what its supposed to and can warm up any weak signal for a more analog sound. it takes a bit of time but this thing can be a great addition to any chain and it can rip holes in speakers.
- Good Points: great sounding filters. lots of dramatic effects for such a simple unit.
- Bad Points: hard to figure exactly whats going on with some settings. touchy.

- out of the box this thing pumps some heavy bass and piercing highs, but really shines when you learn how to tweak it and tailor it to your specific style. everyone will hit this thing differently. steep learning curve with this one, i've had it for well over a year and i'm still picking it apart.. also, i've sent a really hot signal to it and it doesn't know how to act.. but when its on, the sound is perfect. haven't had the chance to use a meatball yet but this thing suits my needs for grade a envelope filter. if you just need a self-oscillating thick tone, this thing'll work perfectly as well.
- Good Points: powerful sound, really fat. 'speed' control is awesome.
- Bad Points: learning curve & unpredictabile at times. i have a low s/n so my issues may be fixed in newer revs.

- i own a few frostwave pedals(spacebeam & resonator) and i've been happy with those two. so i decided to pick this one up after seeing tim(stimbox) use one when he played in montana because i liked what it did for his set-up. not what i expected but i'm very happy with it. its a envelope filter. but it does more than that. it self-oscillates when a certain freq. is hit and man, this thing goes crazy. it will do crazy freq. dives, seems like it goes forever. it has an input level, output level, chose of envelope(down, up or none), a res. knob, speed knob, and freq. knob. plus a lo pass- hi pass switch. once you hit an oscillation start turning the freq. knob and watch out. it hits super lows and really high highs. definitely a great pedal. but not one of those plug-in-and-play kinds of pedals. it takes time.
- Good Points: self-oscillates, great filter, put a distortion pedal in front of it and hear it do its thing.
- Bad Points: hard to tell when its on or off(no light thats tells you)
