MXR Six Band Graphic Equalizer

MXR Six Band Graphic Equalizer

The MXR EQ has six bands, each based one octave apart with boost and cut 18 dB on each band. It equalizes the complete response range 100Hz to 3.2kHz. The M-109 is very quiet in operation and the positive feel of the sliders means that your chosen frequency curve will keep its shape.

  • Sturdy (aka HEAVY) little EQ. The range is fine, but a few of the sliders on mine show a bit of noise, and there's NO on/off stomp for it. If it is in your chain, it's in use. Shame, really, as I'd reach for it a lot more if I could shut it off!
  • Good Points: Very solid. I'm sure I could drive a truck over it and it'd be fine.
  • Bad Points: NO on/off stomp.

  • It does EQ a large range and the sliders do feel more chunky than boss/DOD et al. I like MXR pedals - they always feel chunky and reliable. However I'm of the firm belief that a rack EQ with 10 or 15 sliders is far more useful to model the sound than a pedal EQ. A pedal EQ will get the job done, but is more useful to turn on or off unusual EQ settings as an effect or as a boost. This pedal HAS NO ON/OFF SWITCH. This means that it is always on and is designed for overall sound modelling. It's also a bit noisy.
  • Good Points: Nice chunky feel.
  • Bad Points: Bit noisy and NO ON/OFF SWITCH. YOU CAN'T TURN IT OFF!!!!
