  • Holy crap do I love this thing -- take the Blue Doo overdrive, hitch it to a Snarling Dogs wah, and you're in business. First things first -- it's a tube emulator, so it's not exactly the real deal, but it sounds awesome and is incredibly adjustable, great for adding some overdrive to a synth or generally thickening pretty much anything. You probably already know the deal on SD wahs, and this one is basically the same deal -- three-way mode switch and preamp control, basically everything except the "hormone control" (not all that big a loss) of the regular whine-o wah. Use both the overdrive, the wah or both at the same time. Way more range than most other wah pedals I've used -- the Blues Bawls is no longer manufactured (I haven't compared it to the Bootzilla wah, which is still in production; it seems like it might be in the same ballpark) but worth hunting up -- they're built solid as a tank with metal casing, and mine's definitely taken a beating and never given me any problems. One of my go-to pedals for pretty much anything.
  • Good Points: Solid design, great wah sounds, great dirty overdrive, lots of options
  • Bad Points: Out of production

  • I needed to replace my lame old Cry Baby, and tried various wahs. Didn't like most of them (that Danelectro piece of shit especially sucked). I figured I might as well get a fuzz-wah to maximize my pedalboard space. I didn't like the looks of the Snarling Dogs pedals -- let's face it, the foot looks stupid. But I decided to try this one, and damn if it doesn't sound amazing. The fuzz is adjustable and can get pretty thick and nice. The wah is also adjustable, which is cool. The three settings provided offer different frequency responses. This won't get as bright and brittle as some, so if that's what you're after you might want to look at some other pedals. But it works for me; the highest position gives good high-freq response without being too piercing unless I want it to be.
  • Good Points: Good volume/tone adjustments possible. Nice built-in fuzz. Great to have LEDs that indicate when the wah and the fuzz are on instead of having to guess. Really strong metal construction.
  • Bad Points: None really except that the foot design looks kind of stupid.
