  • Okay, this guy is a pricey bugger, but there are deals to be had on craigslist. This pedal has completely replaced my unreliable Line6 DL4 in every way, and added so much more.

Previously, the DL4 was the only way I could get 1/2 and double time loop sampler playback - the time factor does all kinds of crazy time stretching in the loop sampler. Awesome.

Previously, the DL4 was the only pedal I could find that had usable models of the Space Echo WITH PRESETS (fuck you, BOSS RE-20) - no longer. In fact, all the models are super clean sounding, and quite accurate. Time twisting on both the digital and analog delays is fantastic. A software update awhile back added feedback controls that go up to 110%, so make sure you update yours if it isn't already up to date.

Previously, the DL4 was the only pedal I could find with an assignable external control - guess what? The Eventide not only has that option, but it can take both a three-switch footswitch AND a variable control- which - can interface with any brand (read: ohm value) of variable control pedal.

And MIDI sync that works on any setting, including the loop sampler? Count me in. I sold my DL4 already.

Now, you can only run one emulation at a time, but I'm not really willing to consider that a downside - the pedal would be way more ridiculously expensive if you could.

But for a real downside, while I'm glad that they offer software updates for the bugger, the process is extremely proprietary. You have to register for their site and download their software to install it. If your registration and the serial number of your device don't match up, it won't install the update. I didn't have any trouble with my used pedal, but if a previous owner has registered the pedal before, I don't know what will happen.
  • Good Points: External control options. MIDI sync. Reliable. Awesome timestretch options on loop sampler. Great models, with tons of preset options.
  • Bad Points: Complicated. Proprietary update mechanism.
  • Price Paid: US$250.00
  • Purchased At: craigslist
