  • This is a beast, but a bit of a strange one. Super dark, high-gain, high output thick distortion with a bass boost button ("sub") that kicks in some extra bottom-end harmonics. I find that this pedal needs an EQ or another brighter distortion next to it in the chain in order to sharpen it up a shade but obviously that's personal taste. Quite idiosyncratic but very useful for noise.
  • Good Points: Built like a tank, amazing dark, heavy heavy tone to it, bass boost button useful.
  • Bad Points: Runs off it's own dedicated power supply and doesn't have a battery option so you're stuck with yet another wall-wart. Big, heavy, odd-shaped pedal which might put some off. Price very variable, seems to be heading into collector land.

  • I guess Hughes & Kettner discontinued these, hence the price paid. Like the other person already said, more of an overdrive then a distortion really. In a floop it really sucks volume you probally want to get it first in your chain or keep it out altogether. It's more effective on it's own, good for mic feedback and boosting contact mics. Sub switch is subtle but good. Knobs don't really change the sound all that much.
  • Good Points: solid construction, sub switch, comes with power supply, cheap! and enough low end to bum out your neighbours.
  • Bad Points: big and bulky, strange power supply (so no chance of using one of those multi pedal adapters) sucks volume.

  • This pedal is great, i don't often spend more than for a pedal, and i stuck my neck out for this one without knowing much except it has a sub switch, and who doesn't need more of those? But more of that later, it's distortion is rather mild, it's actually more of an overdrive. It works wonderfully to boost the hell out of your signal, and alone after you push the sub button, you definately notice i mild change, but put this before your meatbox(and you all have one of those, right?)That's where the pain begins...where it ends, that's on you.
  • Good Points: sub switch! massive volume increase
  • Bad Points: no batteries, plug only...you either leave it on or off, no inbetween, as your volume in the rest of your chain will drop significantly!
