Ibanez Digital Flanger DFL

Ibanez Digital Flanger DFL

The Ibanez DFL is the first flanger to use digital processing. The exclusive IDPC (Ibanez Digital Processing Conversion) system permits wideband, brighter flanging effects previously available only with rackmount digital processors. The DFL also features an extra wide 8:1 sweep ratio for deeper, wide-ranging flanging effects. The DELAY MODE switch selects one of three delay ranges while the DELAY TIME control adjusts the delay within each range. As a result, the flanging action is tunable over a wide range of facination flange sounds.

  • Snagged this pedal for SUPER CHEAP. Generally these pedals go for over 0 (usually see it for 0) and I got this pedal for roughly . The delay times for the pedal really make this pedal shine. Especially when you have some pedal noise going and you suddenly change the delay time, wow! Sometimes you can get some funky pinging sounds from the rapid change. The rate is amazingly pretty fast, definately the first thing that I look forward to in a flanger. The sounds can be thick or thin!
  • Good Points: Everything I've looked for in a flanger is right here. The only flanger that has something that this doesn't is the Ada Flanger. But then again, this is just my opinion.

  • I've tried a number of flanger pedals over the years but this was my first and continues to be my favorite. Controls for speed, regeneration, width, delay time, and a mode switch which allows you to switch between delay times of 4, 8, and 16 ms. Makes it easy to get all manner of whacked-out flange effects, the longer delay times can give a really thick, subdued effect, while switching to a shorter delay increases the pitch and sounds thinner and a bit more metallic. Works great in a feedback loop and really adds to distortion, fuzz, or overdrive effects used in the same loop. Older pedal and no longer made, can go for quite a bit on e-bay, but still pop up used in music stores and pawn shops at a reasonable price.
