The BIG CHEESE is a nasty, buzzy yet gorgeous and harmonically rich early fuzz. While having many of the classic characteristics that every fuzz fan will relate to it goes beyond to create an absolutely distinct character of its own. Its innovative and interactive controls can take it from almost "gated" break-up to overkill of shred proportions. It offers terminally thunderous, ripping yet glitch-free and buttock-clenching mayhem. The Big Cheese works exceptionally well in the fx loop of the Meatball creating some of the squelchiest curdled sounds ever - particularly true of the "cheese" setting which gives the signal huge dynamics thus cutting through a mix like the fattest, raspiest analogue synth. Coupled in this way with an octaver it can perform an uncanny impersonation of a synth with no delay or tracking worries.

  • There was lots of hype surrounding this pedal. Finding out that people like Kevin Sheilds from MBV is using this made me curious. It is a unique pedal in it's ability to give you classic shagadelic fuzz to static breakup and all points in between. Lots of gain on tap with this baby. It's the kind of pedal you have to warm up to and discover it's secrets. But once you do it's sonic mayhem. If your looking for fuzzface, it can produce such tones. But this is a fuzz made for more uncharted sonic landscapes. Vlad's made a classic!!!
  • Good Points: Capable of producing different tones. I also found it to be a quiet pedal. On/off switch is quite sturdy.
  • Bad Points: Very pricey for a fuzz, regardless of quality. Also it takes a bit of tweaking to figure out. This is not your dad's fuzz.
