MXR Micro Amp M133

MXR Micro Amp M133

The MXR Micro Amp M133 adds a preset amount of gain to the input signal using a single control. This lets you adjust between two different input devices with unmatched output, or it can supply a permanent boost in a long effects chain where signal drop off is a problem. Powered by a single 9 volt battery or Dunlop's ECB-003 AC adapter (or equivalent).

  • I have it 2 years ago and i think that is a basic pedal to a guitarist. This pedal creates a good feedback and gives more body to the amp gain.
  • Good Points: Hot cruch with the clean channel of a tube amp (in my case a Vox Ac30).
  • Bad Points: I think that is funcional but sometimes a little boring.

  • i disagree that this is a boring pedal. simple yes, boring no. what it does is yes boost your signal, when cranked past 4o'clock it adds a crispy bit of transistory distortion. good for making something sound "blown out" or for smashing the input of a little tube amp. as well as for the obvious "feedback boost". i actually use mine to boost the output of my prepared guitar to the amplifier making more "microscopic" or "lowercase" scrapes, pings and creaks clearer and more pronounced. with this pedal i can run my fingers across a jarlid on my strings to get an uneasy squeaking sound and have it actually get heard. not bad, most "clean boost" pedals are good for this, i just didn't want to spend 0 on a fulltone!
  • Good Points: weird transistory distortion when turned up the whole way. brings out subtlties of quiet playing.
  • Bad Points: on mine the 9volt plug is a different kind of connection than all my other pedals.

  • Pretty boring, it boosts the signal for a clean boost. It does what it's supposed to: Provide a distortion free boost. It's useful for noise because you can boost your signal to get more feedback.
  • Good Points: Does what it's supposed to, very reliable.
  • Bad Points: None that I can see except it's pretty dull.
