MXR Noise Gate/Line Driver

MXR Noise Gate/Line Driver

MXR Noise Gate - Line Driver pedal. The idea is pretty simple, it is used to boost your signal and cut noise to your amp. Usually, it is the last stomp box before the amp. This pedal takes a 9 Volt battery.

  • I used this pedal to control feedback. High volume and abrupt stops were a problem even when I muted the strings so I experemented with a volume pedal that worked OK but you had to go step on it to shut off the sound. When I got the MXR noise gate it solved the problem totaly. I used a flying V into a Marshall JCM800 and I could get super crunch with out a feedback squak.
  • Good Points: It will shut of the signal totaly, not fade it out like some, and there is no delay when opening up. If you are running overdrive petals it will cut off the hiss too.
  • Bad Points: It can clip some sustain when you are letting a note fade but in those instances you can just shut it off.
