Roland Juno-6

Roland Juno-6

The first in a series of amazingly affordable quality synthesizers from Roland's amazing Juno family! The Juno-6 is a six voice polyphonic analog synthesizer! It's a very stable synth thanks to its digitally controlled analog oscillators. The Juno-6 sounds great, however it lacks basic necessities like MIDI control and patch memory storage.

  • This is the first in the Juno series. It's deffinitley a "punchier" synth. Not the most flexible synth for sure, but it has a good range of sounds. Perhaps not the greatest for harsh noise/PE though. It's fun to put distortion feedback into the Arp control input to make it randomly arppeagiate by tweaking the distortion knobs... makes pretty convincingly "unconvincing" cheesy 80's instrument and "space ship" sounds. Distortion pedals after it really improve the overall sound a lot.
  • Good Points: Pretty light for a Juno series synth, very punchy, analog, good range of sounds, very affordable and can be found easily. Incredibly durable... Functions perfectly after all this time. the hold function is great for tweaking a single note and using both hands for the sliders. The noise generator!
  • Bad Points: The DCO (no fading between the oscilators), Can be a little *too* punchy, not enough bass, limited range of sounds compared to higher-end synths. The arppegiator is cool, but may not be as useful a feature to noise musicians. The noise generator can't really be adjusted, really.
