UMI Buzztone

UMI Buzztone

Strange fuzz / distortion pedal! It was made in New York, sometime in the 70's or 80's. It has three knobs, volume, contour, and buzz.

  • It kind of feels like you're driving a 1972 car. The battery meter seems more like a tachometer than the questionably useful measure of battery life. Without a doubt, the extruded looking aluminum and metal on this pedal has got to be worth more the handful of components inside. Nothing fancy, just a gloriously horrific buzzed out distortion of your instrument.
  • Good Points: Truely transistor distortion.
  • Bad Points: Truely transistor distiortion!

  • This is probably my most favorite pedal of all. The sound of the pedal completely annihilates all tone to your guitar or bass. I never really used it on anything else. To me it is a wonderful pedal for industrial music. My buzz tone is a little beat up and dirty. So maybe if it could ever be new it might sound different. All the way up it turns notes into a really coarse and gritty clicking sound. I have never used it with settings lower than 11. In all if I had my way I would have about 50 of these laying around.
  • Good Points: Nice gritty sound. A battery will last about 5 years. Very nise case, not to heavy but can withstand a brutal pounding. By the way. If anyone ever reads this and has one please sell it to me. I will pay good money for it.
  • Bad Points: Extremely hard to find. I have searched for years for anouther one and have only found one other review on it.
