Wattson Classic Electronics SuperFuzz

Wattson Classic Electronics SuperFuzz

Capturing the precise tone of the original classic Super-Fuzz pedals of the 60's and 70's was our primary goal in designing the Wattson Classic SuperFuzz. We spent a lot of time analyzing signals from original Shin-ei and Univox pedals, and it paid off in the end - in spades! We don't think you'll find any pedal anywhere that captures the tone of those classics better than the Wattson Classic SuperFuzz, and we're certain you won't find another one that captures the style and beauty of the originals as well as this one. But we didn't stop there. The Wattson Classic SuperFuzz is housed in a 16 gauge steel chassis, tough enough to withstand years of rugged use, with a sandtex powdercoat that has the vintage style with modern durability. We've also added an external DC power supply jack, an LED to indicate when the effect is active, and a unique battery drawer that allows you to replace the battery without opening the chassis.

  • This pedal creates a very organic and sputtering, hissing, sometimes "synthy" noise inside of a feedback loop. I don't recommend using it with a large number of effects inside one loop as everything loses it's deffinition and turns into a wall of white noise if you do... In a loop, this is most effective with just a handful of effects (I've gotten very cool results with this and just 3 or 4 danelectro minis in a loop.) It can sound good for mic feedback, but the level is much lower than typical high-gain distortions, so it's a good idea to copensate for this with some kind of boosting effect. Sounds better for guitar, to be honest... It has much more flexibility and range for 'tar-wankage than it does all-out harsh noise. It seems to have some kind of gating effect which might not be everyone's cup of tea.
  • Good Points: Sounds like a FUZZ! all-analog, very organic sounding, responsive knobs, built "like a brick shit house" as they say. The builders are extremely pleasant... that's always a bonus.
  • Bad Points: Can be rather limited in a noise context... It will either over-power or be buried in a long feedback loop. Sounds awesome with guitar... I wish it were as awesome for noise! Level is lower than most high-gain pedals, this needs to be compensated for.
