  • I have the vexter model. Well, I havn't been buying much latley... But this was a GOOD choice! I got it to mess up my tape loops, but it actualy did it too good - ie. it would start to sound samey live. So I use it in pre-production of said loops, then I use it in the carrier line into my frostwave blue ringer to really mess stuff up! I have owned more fuzz pedals than I care to think of, this is the most crazy one yet. If it had an eq it would be mind blowing.
  • Good Points: Looks sexy. Turns every signal into a fuzzy wuzzy mess o' noise. 9v in. LED. Tweakers wet dream!
  • Bad Points: No eq options...

  • This pedal rules. I had the pleasure of looking at one that a friend had. Very simple circuit but what it can give you is AMAZING. lofi 8bit synthy sounds to swirly fuzz. It feedbacks, it squelches, you name it. It's really one of the best fuzzes I've ever messed with.
  • Good Points: The Stab knob is fun, basically starves the pedal of voltage, gives it some interesting sounds. LOTS of tweaking can be done which is priceless in a fuzz pedal, most fuzz pedals only have 2 or 3 knobs and usually one of them is a lame volume knob, yes this has a volume knob but it has FOUR others!
  • Bad Points: Expensive but now that the vexter model is out you can get one for cheaper.

  • The Fuzz Factory that I purchased was the Vexter version, i.e., the newer (and cheaper) one with a simple silk screened/polished steel decorative motif. Given the hype that this builder has received, I was skeptical ... but, after using it with standard-tuned electric guitars, have become aware of how Zvex EARNED his reputation.
  • Good Points: The Vexter series version is considerably cheaper than the regular hand-painted one and has all of the same features as the original, plus the added bonus of an LED and AC power jack. It is very reactive to other pedals with certain settings and can produce a wide variety of glitches, squeals, shrieks, laser blasts, and more subdued distortions.
  • Bad Points: No presets can be stored. There is no way to lock the knobs, so random and/or accidental knob movements can ruin perfectly tweaked sounds. The learning curve for the interface can be a little steep.

  • 5 knobs that control simple parameters; adjust one and make a good sound go berserk. This pedal spits, hisses, cacks, coughs, and bites really hard. Take in your guitar to see how IT reacts being plugged into the craziest fuzz pedal. Try the "factory suggested" settings and turn knobs from there, really you should. Those knobs act like a pile of springs: one adjustment alters your sound immediately.
  • Good Points: This unit is both hand made and painted. Each unit is signed by the artist. Solid construction

  • Sounds like an insect stuck in your ear. Feeds like crazy. It also can rip farts. Goes from distortion to scab ripping fuzz. This is a great sounding pedal. Sounds super good at high volumes.
  • Good Points: Wide range of tones. Very noisee. This is an all or none pedal, there’s no such thing as adding a little fuzz factory, when it's on it's on. It's hard to dial in the same exact sound twice. As battery voltage drops, the sound of the pedal changes, sometimes for the better and sometimes not. This thing does rad tricks, sometimes... it’s like my dog. It's built like a tank. True bypass! Barely move a knob and the sound changes completely. It's better for high pitch feedback than low.
  • Bad Points: NO led.

  • This thing is massive. I've had multiple people mistake my guitar for a synth while using this pedal to record. Loads of fun and amazingly organic and tweakable.
  • Good Points: Lots of knobs to really tweak and get that "perfect" fuzz sound.
  • Bad Points: Not your typical fuzz. Have to patient and spenda a lot of time to find useful sounds.

  • Seems confusing at first but makes sense. Volume, Gate, Compression, Distortion ans Stability. Basically a sick fuzz box with lots of flexability.
  • Good Points: Lots of room to move - very flexible sonically.
  • Bad Points: Very loud, scares the dead and the paint chips off.

  • It's a very massive sounding fuzz with incredible volume and sound pressure. Gives its best with gate and comp controls set low but the noise is quite uncontrollable. Sometimes you can turn this to your advantage, sometimes not. Good pedal but hard to use.
  • Good Points: It's beautiful, it sounds good and it's well built. Has a character of its own: one of those pedals that can help you build a part with their sound.
  • Bad Points: It has no DC input and no led (as all the ZVex pedals) and it's not simple to use.
  • Price Paid: US$200.00

  • This is indeed a pretty crazy pedal. For some reason I've found that I don't use it quite as much as I thought I would, but when needed it can do the job better than most. Definitely able to get a wide variation of sounds, from totally out of control feedback-filled noise to very under-control squashed fuzz thanks to the noise gate and compressor that are built in.
  • Good Points: Pretty flexible and totally heavy.
  • Bad Points: Expensive and the noisiness can be hard to control when you want to.

  • brain damage fuzz pefal, can make standard fuzz, or can just destroy your signal, or can sound like a theremin.

  • Bad Points: not for the faint of heart
