Ibanez Slam Punk SP5

Ibanez Slam Punk SP5

Crunchy distortion. The sound of the Slam Punk is what you would get from a contemporary British hi-gain stack.

  • This one of those distortions you get when you already have a really good distortion, and want to chain them in a row to give your good distortion more character (preferably before). other than that this is a really unremarkable distortion. It suffers from the typical bloopy, synthy tones you get from distortions when it is in a Floop. It's not so good with contact mic'd metal. HNW fanatics need only set it all on 10. The good news is these don't come up too often on ebay. The bad news is that makes them kinda RARE. Which means you'll pay a lot more money than you should to find out the other chap and i are right.
  • Good Points: i got it in a lot with 4 other pedals so it's like i paid for it after selling the rest.
  • Bad Points: typical soundtank issues: plastic enclosure, dodgy switch.
  • Price Paid: US$20.00
  • Purchased At: ebay

  • hmm..possibly the worst gimmick for a pedal ever. the distortion is mediocre, and well..the name of the unit itself and the controls is just cheesy. "blast" is a level control, "spike" controls the tone, and "anarchy" controls distortion. i don't reccomend this one at all, i borrowed it from a friend to try it out(i had to, with such a ridiculous name) and i will return it as soon as i see him next.
  • Good Points: very little. i guess good control over the parameters..that's it.
  • Bad Points: mediocre sound, terrible name and control names
