I got this used....its a very useful little thing to have lying around....many many applications...i use it to creat a feedback loop out of a guitar pedal set up that i used fairly normally. Output of this into first pedal and output of last pedal into input 1, guitar into input 2, the feedback loop can be activated by turning the volume of input 1
Good Points: No battery needed, solid
Bad Points: maybe a level meter would be nice, but not essential

I have the blue version of the 420. It's got smaller knobs and is all around nicer looking/feeling. These things are great. They can be used either direction. One input to four outputs, or four inputs to one output. I use mine mainly for taking a single AUX send and sending it to four different pedal chains. Each with their own "volume/amount" control. Needs no power. Can be a bit funky on the volume jumps if the input it set too high. Other than that these little things are priceless for just routing fun. Rolls also makes an identical mini mixer. A little smaller even.

useful simple mixer. its nice for splitting up the inputs into a pedal chain. i put a contact mic, a synth, condenser mic and a feedback loop into this thing then to the chain and on to the mixer. i find that you can hear most of what goes through it all at the same time which is contrary to what someone else was saying. the feedback loop does drown everything else out when volumes on full but its still really useful.
Good Points: solid. really simple. you can go from 4 into 1 signal or 1 into 4 which allows for some unruly audio damage.
Bad Points: if you max out the volume of something loud it will drown out all the sound of the other channels.

I've had mine for about 10-15 years...breat for use onstage live with a synth mix...added some velcro to the bottom and attached it to my top synth...
Good Points: easy to use and NO BATTERIES!!!
Bad Points: would have worked better for me if the "Input" side was switched with the "Output" side...

Mine doesn't look at all like this. Great for hearing one side only of a stereo signal. Also good for processing pedals in parallel, by using them between this gizmo and a splitter. See the reviews of BOSS splitter.
Good Points: Simple to fix, mod and operate.
Bad Points: Look inside. Pricey for what's in there.

im basically not going to repeat most of the truths already posted. what i found usefull with this little box is making feedback loops out of mono pedals. it works better for some effects than others...and there are deffinately alot more applications to explore on this...but thats my favorite one personally...
Good Points: no batteries...rugged dod built...
Bad Points: wish they made one with a bit more control...maybe a mini eq section or something like that...but than it would need batteries wouldnt it?

a freind of mine gave me this for free and i've jsut started using it. i like but like K. said in one of the other reviews, if one signal is hotter than the other you'll only here that one. that is true but if you put a compression pedal after it, that will boost the signal and give it a more even output for your input. i like it if you're going to use a small set-up and focus on different sound sources versus different set-ups for different sources. has its potential in noise. i like mine. easy to use. no batteries. as useful as a a/b box.
Good Points: no batteries. cheap. built tough. has its place in my set-up.
Bad Points: wish it had better mixing capabilities if signals don't max up.

Well you can split one signal into 4 (which is cool), or 4 into 1... I generaly use this to manage 2 independant feedback loops at the begining of my chain...
Good Points: Cheep, works, no juce required, built like a tank...

I picked up one of these when I was first starting out and quickly unloaded it, gotta say it's total crap. If you're trying to use it as a low cost mixer, think again, being a passive device the input sgnals need to be fairly even from the beginning. It might work well mixing undistorted, unprocessed signals from tape and CD players, but forget any use for loud, severe noise, 'cause if one line in is hotter than the others it's all you'll hear. Just go spend the money for a Berhinger or Mackie, you'll be much happier.
