Electro Harmonix Silencer
The Electro Harmonix Silencer is a noise gate pedal that reduces unwanted hum and hiss when playing with high gain or effects. Its Threshold control sets the level at which the gate closes, silencing the signal when it falls below that point. The Release control adjusts how quickly the gate reopens after the signal drops, allowing for either abrupt or gradual decay of the sound. A dedicated effects loop can be used to place noisy pedals inside the gate's detection circuit, so that the gate responds to the guitar's clean signal rather than the noise introduced by those effects, preserving the guitar's attack while silencing background noise. The pedal operates with a standard 9V power supply and features true bypass switching.
