Access Virus Indigo 1

Access Virus Indigo 1

Intended to be a limited edition in the first place, the Virus indigo mesmerised thousands of users. Some even thought that it sounds better than the Virus b... we honestly can tell you: it doesn't! In spring 2002, the Virus indigo was superseded by its successor, the indigo 2 which continues the blue saga with Virus c series features and keyboard with aftertouch. Please note that the Virus indigo is being discontinued.

  • This is the premier industrial noise synth. Top-notch effects: phaser (many variable stages), chorus, delay, (will loop/hold), thick reverb, vocoder, tunable analog boost (parametric eq), and distortion =) - many flavors: clipping (light, soft, medium, hard), digital, rectifier, bit reduction, sample rate, shaper and others; 5 and 6 parameters for most; ring mod, 4-oscillator section, knobs can be pushed into saturation; 2 main capable of 64 distinctive waves, hard sync/detune for osc drifting and dissonance; basic fm for hard percussive hits, noise generator with variable color/volume; ring mod and vocoder accessed via stereo external quarter-inch inputs! Patch anything into envelope follower, vocoder & ring mod presets + more. Stereo main outs and multiple sub outs interface semi-modular setups via freaky routings and multiple pedal loops. Run through effets, filters... strong dual multimodes: hp, lp, bp, notch can be configured in chain. They get the job done; don't self-oscillate but resonance can be painful. Saturation circuit offered for filter1 with same distortion flavors as main effects section. 2 of the lfo's offer several parameters: over 60 different patterns, S&H, contour, negative tread, advanced panned tremolo, odd timing, assigning, envelope modes no usual adsrÃÔ! 1 step further, sustain contains knob for rise/fall. Amp + each filter has own envelope. So many damn routing options: assign mod wheel to fm while fm controls noise amount, lfo1 to delay time, pitch to res, stepped flanging, etc. Virtually any parameter or function to modulate is available. 2 dedicated freely assignable knobs for controlling just about anything! Rhythmic cycling noise via hold, latch, note length, tempo, etc; slow down that apocolyptic car crash assigning arp tempo to a knob noise-tweakerÃÔ haven; orgasmic looks, all-metal construction, solid knobs and keyboard; digital soundscapes, haunting pads, undecipherable walls noise, cyber destruction, rumbling, static, anarchic electricity, metallic hits, sweeps, droning, schizo pulses, cold washes... This all is only the tip of the industrial iceberg only 2400 characters allowed. ;) This is one motherfucker of a synth and carries my highest possible recommendation. Bought back before Indigo II came out, so getting cheaper, especially with the software craze.
  • Good Points: sound, sexy looks, knobs (two are assignable), control, metal + quality construction all around, external ins, flexibility, multiple mangling tools, compact size
  • Bad Points: max delay time under one sec (600ms?), would prefer three-prong power cable instead of more flimsy two, relatively expensive for the average noisician
  • Price Paid: US$1500.00
  • Purchased At: Guitar Center
