The NanoCompressor offers pro features like complete compression controls, RMS and peak signal detection, hard and soft knee curves and a sidechain input. The NanoCompressor's front panel includes controls for compression threshold, ratio, attack time, release time and output level. Selectable hard/soft knee compression curves and Peak/RMS detection styles are provided, and a Bypass switch lets you compare the original signal with the newly modified one. • Everything in the description, plus dual inputs and outputs. Compression can be a kinda strange effect, a bit difficult to describe, because alot of the time with noise you may not actually notice it doing anything at all. Depending upon the signal it is fed the effect can be very subtle or quite noticeable, like I said, a little strange. The controls which will usually have the most affect on loud, severe sounds are the rate, attack, ratio, and output level, threshold, and the switches for peak/rms, soft/hard, or input/output seem to have little or no affect regardless of the input signal. I use mine in a feedback loop and it definitely keeps distortion from producing that annoying monotone squeal, only problem is when you switch on another pedal or adjust a couple controls on various pedals it will change the effect of the compressor, quite a bit of fine tuning is needed to find a setting which works well with a variety of sounds.
  • Good Points: 1/3 rack space unit, relatively inexpensive, dual inputs and outputs, all the features of full-sized compressors in a small package
  • Bad Points: can have a very subtle affect on the sound which is not noticeable, rquires a bit of fine tuning to find settings wich work well with various input signals
