  • reply to Colin: turn the feedback knob to 0 either just before or just after turning it off. I had a DD-5 before a poorly thought out trade robbed it from me, but they are very similar pedals and that aspect is probably still the same. if you want a review, awesome pedal. it takes what you play and plays it again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again.... and there are features so you can change the way it plays what you played.

  • this was the first delay pedal i ever bought, and years later it's still a staple on my pedalboard. i prefer this pedal over the Line 6 Delay Modeler, since it takes up way less space on my pedalboard. the delay sounds on this thing are incredible. everything from quick echoes to delays so long you forgot what you just played into it. a little on the pricey side when it was new, im sure you could find these cheaper on ebay now, especially since the DD-7 came out.
  • Good Points: + It's a durable, well-made Boss pedal + Really loooooooong delay + the "Hold" mode changed my life + reverse delay!!!!! + It would be hard to find something this pedal ISN'T good for
  • Bad Points: - Sounds REALLY obvious when you tweak the delay time in a live setting. don't do it. or cut the pedal off quickly and add distortion at the same time, adjust the delay time, then turn it back on.

  • I love this pedal and have debated buying a DD-7 to use along with it. For drones, I started out using the Hold function, but more recently I've started using either a long delay time and the feedback near max or the Reverse mode with a similarly high feedback setting. The panning from the stereo output brings out the nuances of drones and adds depth to them. Also, plugging the Output B into one of the Inputs creates a fairly loud feedback loop.
  • Good Points: versatile preserves most of a source's tone the hold function can serve as a one pedal feedback loop stereo output
  • Bad Points: could be considered pricey

  • i just have a question..how do you get the thing to turn of cold..because i will do some noise stuff with it for fun and when i hit the pedal to turn it off it takes like 10 seconds to fade out..and i just wish i knew how to make it turn off..yeah i know nothing about this pedal. if you could email me greyfoxmusic@aol.com and give me some tips..thatd be swell.
  • Good Points: TAP TEMPO!!! it rules.
  • Bad Points: keeps making noise when i turn it off and eventuly fades out.

  • pretty cool pedal. didn't get into it as much as the digitech PDS - 1002. i've owned this pedal for not even about a year and i'm just now starting to get more into it.
  • Good Points: pretty cool for longer delay (up to 5 seconds of delay)
  • Bad Points: reverse setting is kinda stupid and worthless

  • Warp mode - Creates a sort of internal feedback loop. So that when you hold the pedal down whatever is running thru the pedal gets captured/looped/and begins feeding back on itself. When you release the pedal it drops back to the current volume of whatever is running thru. Nice for building washes. The hold feature on here is what I use them for. Nice easy to use hold/loop function. You can pretty easily seamlessly loop things on here. Hold it down capture loop release begins play. Hold down again to overdub more sound. Seems to me that the original captured sound doesn't loose too much until about 3-4 overdubs. Then it starts to fade to the back. Press again to clear the loop. Delay settings nice long delay. Stereo too. For mono you can go in the mono and out the stereo to make use of the full delay time. As with most delays the feedback knob is put to use for keeping the delay under control, or to get it to feedback upon itself. Reverse is nice. Never use it but I believe you can use the volume and/or feedback knob to adjust the original signal and reverse. Like a dry/wet knob. Delay time knob is the kind where it makes a pitch glide up or down when turn, giving you a repeated tweaked sound. I personally prefer the clicking ones, but this one glides the sound.

  • I love delays, my favorite of any effects. This is a great stereo digital delay. I love the stereo i/o feature which is nice for a compact pedal. I've been using it in front of something like a filter or a phaser to make it less digital sounding. Warp mode is cool for some random feedback when you press down on the pedal. Again I love delays and the only limitaions are your imagination.
  • Good Points: Stereo i/o Warp mode Pretty much everything is good for me
  • Bad Points: Nothing really

  • Despite being digital, this has become my workhorse delay pedal, for a few reasons: 1) So many options; you've got four delay times, and excellent reverse, the warp mode, and the hold mode (which is genius in ANY music genre). Plus, it's got mono or stereo, a doubled delay time if you plug in through A and out through B, and a separated clean/delayed function if you plug in through B and out through both. 2) The tap tempo function, which sounds silly for noise music, but it's not: changing the tap speed is instant, so you can turn a full length sample into a quick vibrato chunk in a split second tap on the pedal. 3) It feeds back into itself and eventually turns into a noise wall. The best part of this function is realized when you use it with an fx loop; you can hide it and it will feed back on itself on it's own over time. When you turn it back on, you never know quite what you're going to get, but you KNOW it will be chunky, staticy and overdriven beautifulness.
  • Good Points: BOSS construction. Never dies, really. Stereo, plus all the other plugging options So many modes! The delay knobs are close together; which means you can tweak multiple knobs at once with practice
  • Bad Points: Make sure you read the extra documentation; most of the best features of this pedal aren't labeled without those extra dumb stickers (which are ugly).

  • Good pedal with warp mode. Put it before a distortion and control the wave of noise in real time! The two outputs are very useful and 5 sec of hold are good if you play a synth box after this pedal.
  • Good Points: -Warp mode!! -long delays -different outputs
  • Bad Points: -some modes are not compatible (ex: reverse&warp) -tap tempo it's not easy to use

  • this is a very very good pedal, ive only compared this to the dd-3 which ive also used, to me they both sound almost exactly the same however the dd-6 has two inputs which is definitely a plus, in addition its got warp mode. warm mode has a good range and makes some awesome sounds if you barley twist the warp after entering your noise, the hold feature still works well and the tap tempo is also very handy, reverse mode is a nice addition although you may find it hard to really appreciate the effect of it, the feedback works perfectly too, using warp mode and feedback all the way up with delay as fast as it gets you can get some very aggressive synth sounds out of it using a guitar. controlling pitch with the d. time. this is my most favorite pedal.
  • Good Points: 2 inputs -tap tempo -its pretty white and blue -reverse mode and warp mode -panning effect for dual amps -very solid
  • Bad Points: if feedback is up and effect level is down low and the pedal is turned off the effect level gets really loud for a second before fading back out.

  • when i saw this pedal i had to try it out. first, because it has two inputs(hell yeah). you can run two opposing sound sources into it or stereo outs to stereo ins. plus it has two outputs. that right there is great. it has some different features from the other boss delays. first, it has a warp function, with that the pedal will feedback on itself till you let off of the pedal. second the delay times are different from the dd-5. i think they are shorter but work better in some respects. the one thing i liked about it was the d. time knob. when you turn this one it doesn't sound like the dd-5 at all. this one has more of a slurred-blurred sound when you turn it. very nice effect. over all i dig this pedal.
  • Good Points: warp fuction two inputs/two outputs better tracking than the dd-5
  • Bad Points: still digital.
