  • I actually bought this buy mistake, I wanted an RV-3. This is still quite impressive. The use of Reverb is highly important to the noise solos in my live set. There is a preset in the manual I highly recommend; It's called "Fat Sound" and it's really quite special. Using reverb with delay is something alot of people don't seem to figure out. You can make notes last forever with this thing.
  • Good Points: "Fat Sound" Preset. Lot's of modes. Built Strong. Stereo Out.
  • Bad Points: Does chime at top end.

  • i've had this pedal for about a year and a half. it's been off of my pedalboard for about 2 weeks total during that time. some people think reverb has no place in noise, i think otherwise. besides obvious uses like adding ambience and space to quieter parts, switch this thing to Plate mode and turn the tone knob to 3 o'clock and watch your distortions get way harsher. i'm not really a fan of the Modulate mode. i mostly use the first 3, Spring, Plate, and Hall with the Time knob maxed and the Tone knob anywhere between 2 o'clock and maxed.
  • Good Points: + built super well + long reverb times + 6 different modes + stereo ins and outs
  • Bad Points: - no reverse reverb, like the Digitech - sort of expensive for what it does
  • Price Paid: US$150.00

  • Yeah, basically it's as stated below. I like it for the Modulation reverb, other than that I don't use it. And really the Mudulation reverb sound really really cool.
  • Good Points: The Modulation Reverb. BOSS reliability.
  • Bad Points: Basically useless other than the Modulation Reverb.

  • I actually really don't care for the sound of this thing too much, BUT it has STEREO ins/outs! I looked forever for a reverb that was stereo in/out. The tone knob on this I like a lot, The decay time is plenty, the gate is interesting (haven't found a use for yet...), Wet/Dry knob is brilliant! Overall I'd say for sound quality stick with the EH Holy Grail, but I find for live use this thing has the features to make things more workable. Also I'd have to agree with K. there below, it's great for quieter parts, endings, but also any smaller high end sounds floating around above a mass of sound and any large percussive sounds.
  • Good Points: Wet/Dry knob Tone really shines Interesting Modes STEREO IN/OUT
  • Bad Points: There's better sounding reverbs for cheaper.

  • Replaces the RV-3 and dispenses with the delay & delay/reverb combination settings found on the previous model and adds gated and modulated reverb sounds. The quality of the reverbs on the RV-5 are little improved (if at all) over the RV-3, although the settings are clearly labeled as to type instead of just numbered 1-6. The modulated reverb actually sounds pretty good, it seems to have a fuller sound than what's available w/ the other settings, although there's not a noticable modulating of the signal. The gate function is o.k., though you'll only get satisfactory results using an intermittent sound source, not a continous blast of noise/feedback. The tone control has a good range, from bright and crisp to low and muffled. Also there's dual inputs for running it with stereo equipment, mixers, etc. Personnaly I don't find much use for reverb in producing HARSH noise, though it's useful for quieter sections, and great for performing live when you want an alternative to just cutting off the power supply at the end of a set.
  • Good Points: Modulation setting best sounding, gated reverb
  • Bad Points: Not much of an improvement in quality of reverb sounds over the RV-3
