  • And in this corner, we have one of the most useful devices known to man. The only thing that would make this more useful would be if it was in stereo. Better than any AB switch box. It's got multiple switching modes, and volume knobs for both loops! uses I've found so far: switching between instruments/microphones of all sorts switching between effects loops a mute switch a volume switch feeding feedback loops a TINY mixer (I've had to run open mics through these before) etc. The pie's the limit.
  • Good Points: Boss construction volume for each loop many many switching options!
  • Bad Points: Mono, although I could think of plenty of uses for two in paralell!

  • A glorified A/B box, how boring, right? Wrong. The various switching possibilities make this quite a useful little box, and the individual level controls for each effects loop is a nice addition. I normally use it to switch between a line feedback loop and some other input signal, or bypass that effects chain altogether. Another cool feature is that you can run three different signals into the input and the two effects return jacks and use the line selector like a small mixer w/ the unit in the A + B mode. Also, it has a power output jack which allows you to power up to 7 other pedals when using an adaptor. A key pedal for me in the studio.
  • Good Points: Variety of switching options, individual level controls for A and B effects loops
  • Bad Points: None, I find it an essential piece of gear

  • two independent buffered loops with knobs to control level - multiple options tied to single footswitch determine loops a, b and bypass. run multiple effects chains in parallel rather than serial (try distortion on a and a phaser on b) - or isolate tone-sucking untrue-bypass pedals and give them an input boost.
  • Good Points: a/b level controls are unique to this pedal - loop input/outputs are also independent meaning you can have three inputs to one out or one in to three outs.
  • Bad Points: single pedal style makes switching a little too simple - in a->b->bypass mode, you may need to switch past a to go from bypass to b. unlike other boss pedals, the switch on my unit has always been flaky.
