Unlike tape speed adjustments or conventional pitch shifters, the VT-1 affords separate control of pitch and formant, so the users voice can be altered without the "chipmunk" effect. There is also a feature specifically designed to produce "robot-like" talking. • a rather unique pitch shifter. outside of processing one's voice, this thing rocks for fx on drum machines and synths. has a unique blend which somewhat doubles your sound with the effected sound. the robot effect is a rather cincy throw in but hey its there if you want it.
  • Good Points: awesome build rather unique in its operation of pitch shifting can store your settings in user banks
  • Bad Points: price for what your getting makes it more botique device than practical effect. robot effect has no control whatsoever and is basically just thrown in for good measure.

  • This is a simple device that works well and is very easy to figure out. It's a very quiet unit and the sounds it produces are quite nice. Meant to be a voice unit, I have had varying success running other instruments through it. I've gotten some nice ring modulator type sounds running an analog synth through it. I would NOT buy this if I were looking solely for the robot/vocoder effect. The VT-1's robot effect is weak on its own, but can be interesting if the mix setting is right. The digital reverb sounds good but is exaggerated somewhat. The sliders are sensitive, so there is a wide variety of sounds that may be produced. Probably the most realistic "gender changer" I've ever heard. Fun but I don't think I would have bought it new.
  • Good Points: Minimal noise, excellent sound quality, good variety of sounds. Built like a steel bunker. Very easy to use. Works for more than just vocals.
  • Bad Points: Too expensive new. Robot effect is weak. Not enough preset banks.

  • this device could be useful. It's a pitch shifter which had to use some kind of natural sound, but that hadn't worked out completely. Surely i would prefer this thing above the PS-2 and PS-3 because you have much better tonal control. The Robot effect is stupid for sounds different than voice. The reverb included is a very nice extra although it's not a very good one. overall, if you are looking for a pitch shifter try this.
  • Good Points: much better tone and control than any other pitch i now. settings can be stored.
  • Bad Points: robot function. could be pricy
