  • I bought this new after it got a great review in 2 guitar magazines. Being young and foolish I didn't get how it worked and gave up, only getting it out now and then.

Recently I've used it both straight into a PA desk and into valve amps. For the PA it was a little buzzy and the EQ was difficult to nail but it certainly sounded fine.

Into the amps, however, it sounds amazing. Through the '66 Fender Bassman I used to have it was nothing short of thunderous and it has a quite convincing classic rhythm crunch through the clean channel of my Hiwatt HiGain 50 SER 2x12 combo.

A clean tube amp benefits most in my experience as it just pushes it that bit. More grunt than my Ibanez TS-5 TubeScreamer and more subtle than a BOSS DS-1.
  • Good Points: Sound. It really is great, and the EQ is very flexible. The construction is also ok. The retro looks are cool too.
  • Bad Points: I had to have the power supply socket repaired. It looks hardy but it aint that tough. EQ to some extent. Almost too much flexibility. Pick the wrong settings and disappear into the mix, although not as bad as the BOSS MT-2.

  • Got this as part of a lot -- it's a nice overdrive, a bit buzzy when cranked up (which can be good or bad), so if you're looking for something to hit your tube amp it's good and cheap, but it's probably too subtle for most noise uses. Nice big-Dano metal case and good three knob EQ but the knobs are *tight* so changes on the fly are kinda tough. Cool pedal, better than a stock Tubescreamer, but doesn't push quite as hard as I'd like.
  • Good Points: Cheap! Nice useful EQ Good overdrive (your amp may vary)
  • Bad Points: Super-tight layout A bit buzzy when cranked (can be a good point)

  • I bought this on EBay and haven't really used it very much. it's a great overdrive, with much more tones possibilities than several overdrives in the market. It can almost sound like a distortion sometimes.
  • Good Points: The EQ section is what makes the diference.
  • Bad Points: I tried to use is without an amp and didn't sound great. But I guess you should have an amp anyway.
