Daphon Heavy Metal E20MT

The Daphon Heavy Metal E20MT is a versatile high-gain distortion unit that can be tweaked to produce a wide array of excellent distortion sounds. The TONE knob allows you to dial in everything from deep warm distortion to extra high-end grit. Features an extra heavy duty metal enclosure with a rubber underside to prevent sliding. Operates with either a 9 volt battery (included) or a standard 9 volt DC negative tip 'barrel' type adapter.

  • when i first bought this pedal, i was disappointed. in a chain competing with a Grunge and a Death Metal, it got lost easily. when placed after certain effects, there was a noticeable signal drop. i was about ready to use it as a paperweight forever when i decided to try again. i was very pleasantly suprised, this pedal has a tone and character all its own, some may like it and some may not. the distortion knob is totally useless, keep it maxed. the tone knob, when maxed, dials in high-gain treble-y distortion that sounds very harsh and, well, metallic. at the end of the day, this won't stack up to your DOD Death Metal, but at the beginning of a chain followed by another distortion later in the chain, it's pretty useful and does its job uniquely.
  • Good Points: + sturdy, heavy construction + has a unique distortion sound + plenty of high-end bite
  • Bad Points: - distortion knob does not affect the sound too much. leave it cranked. - tone knob functions more like a level knob than a tone knob. most useful between 1 o'clock and maxed. - some signal drop, depending on order in chain and other pedals in chain. lower the levels on yr more poweful distortion pedals to match the max level of this pedal and you should be set.

  • Now on sale from now-whenever the cows come home.
  • Good Points: Cheap, nice high end. Good gain. Heavy duty build. Good at the end of a loop. The instruction manual has poor translation, which is worth a few laughs.
  • Bad Points: Don't expect to do much tweaking with this thing, because there isn't much range. Made in China, so avoid eating this pedal.
