  • The nano version features two female inputs, and most importantly, the old switch pictured above has been replaced by a stomp switch. Running this between a prepared guitar and a bass amp, the pedal provided a clean, adjustable volume boost that emphasized scrapes, clicks, and pops rather well. Not sure if the crackle others have mentioned would be more noticeable with a guitar amp. Also, this seems to be one of the cheapest boost pedals out there at the moment.
  • Good Points: clean volume boost amplifies small sounds without drowning them in amp hum cheap
  • Bad Points: lacks the eq section of more expensive boost pedals
  • Price Paid: US$35.00

  • I just picked up a Nano version of this. I don't know how I did without it. I use a Traynor YCV40 Amp and it has canceled out my second channel. I have a huge chain of effects playing live and keeping the power is so important. It drives the amp without having to crank the volume so on larger tube amps you can get your full potential sound without drowning out the band. It's got a little bit of crackle but It does its job beautifully. I wish all pedals could get results so simply.
  • Good Points: Cheap. Simple. Powerful. Strong. Volume drop and gain.
  • Bad Points: Slight crackle.
  • Price Paid: US$44.00

  • Adds a lot of adjustable gain to your signal, which can make your amp distort more or add power to low level inputs. Solid EH case. Just one little switch and a dial. Easy to use (obviously). Not a lot else to say about it!
  • Good Points: Adds gain. Lots of it.
  • Bad Points: Fiddly to change battery. Switch is a bit noisy. No stomp switch. DIYers could probably rig up something similar for less money.

  • The LPB1 is a very nice addition to my stompbox arsenal. Mine is the one with two female plugs. I dig it. It's simple to operate and it adds a whole lot of gain to my signal. Will make the wimpiest amplifiers grow some hair on their balls.
  • Good Points: A good unit.
  • Bad Points: There are none.
