Gretsch Play Boy HF Modulator
The Gretsch Play Boy HF Modulator combines a filter and a volume/expression pedal in one unit. Its primary control is a treadle that sweeps a high-frequency filter, altering the timbre from dark to bright as it is rocked forward and back. This creates a wah-like effect, with the filter's cutoff frequency following the pedal's position. The unit also functions as a volume pedal, allowing the treadle to control the output level when the filter is disengaged or set to a fixed position. A switch selects between filter and volume modes, determining whether the treadle affects tone or loudness. The pedal is designed for floor use, with a rugged housing suitable for stomping, and it connects via standard 1/4-inch jacks for input and output.
