Korg's new ELECTRIBE series uses the ultimate in analog modeling to give you the richest, most versatile analog-style sounds out there. Build analog sounds by using the ELECTRIBE·A's wavefom, filter and effect knobs. (2 VCO + 1 VCF) x 2 parts. Input external audio sources into the ELECTRIBE·A, process them with its resonant filter or effects knobs. Modulate the oscillator using Ring Modulation, Sync,or Decimator. Record filter or effect knob movements of the Synthesizer section in realtime using the "Motion sequence" function. Store a total of 256 (64 x 4 banks) phrases or patterns plus 16 songs consisting of multiple patterns. The ELECTRIBE·A is a compact analog modeling synth box that lets you create analog synthesizer, bass, and sound effect sounds simply - just tweak the knob that controls each element of the sound as on an analog synthesizer. Operation is easy and intuitive because the results of moving the knobs are reflected immediately in the sound.

- This is a pretty nice analog modeling synth. 2 oscillators(with ring mod, sync, and decimator functions, as well as the ability to use the audio in as an oscillator for ring mod applications), filter, digital distortion, delay, and flanger in one easy to use box. It is very editable, and the ease of use is a strong point for this, i never took one look at the manual, and figured out everything with ease. The ability to actually play the buttons like an actual synth is pretty nice. feedback loop capability is a nice feature also. The delay time is good, and the flanger's speed can be set to a ridiculous rate. easy storage and retrieval of patches. very compact without being so small as to be impractical. definitely something worth checking out if you want a quality inexpensive synth device.
- Good Points: intuitive, great sounds, compact size.
- Bad Points: plastic case scares me a bit, but no problems thus far. just don't throw it and you'll be fine.

- i got this synth the other day there are alot of flashing lights not that its improtend but it does look quite nice. with the right imagenation and pedals this synth could be rly nice. im using to make subharmonic drone atm combining with my dod meat box.
- Good Points: it is cheep fun to use and quite felxable.
- Bad Points: i cant seem to make any "haeshnoise" with it

- Korg's electribe A is one of the best equipments to make easy noise collages.It's very easy to use and features an array of complex-electronic patterns.The good posibility to interlace effects and frequencies made this one one of the best,and maybe a classic mandatory machine.Recommended for psychoactive noise composers

- some of the digital noise you can create with this 'synth' can melt your mind. the best way to really screw up the sound is by using the record knob movement feature on any of the knobs then twist the same knob while it is playing back or mess with the chorus flange while it is playing some dissonant sounds. its ok for synth sounds but can really make some messed up digital noise if you take the time to figure out how.
- Good Points: great digital noises. can run a signal through filter delay and distortion. distortion is actually pretty good.

- Well, this things obviously aimed at the trance/ambient types, but a little creativity can render some brain scraping noises. Most obvious ploy is to use a patch lead to link the audio out to the audio in, giving you an instant feedback loop, with delay, ring modulation, flanging and low pass filter. Messing with the delay control while it's playing creates all kinds of weird popping and clanging noises. It's pretty easy to set up a drone with the built in sequencer, and you can use the sequencer to control other midi kit. Having two voices, but only one set of controls does lead to some odd results when you switch over, but you just gotta learn to harness it. Over all, I've had a lot of fun with this thing over the last couple of years, and keep finding new sounds hidden in the box.
- Good Points: Audio in so you can mess with other instruments. Sequencer can act as a kind of midi looper for other kit. Great hub for an effects feedback loop.
- Bad Points: Picky about what power supplies it'll work with (and the Korg power supply was never that reliable). Sudden switching of control values when you bump the unit. Some audible stepping on the filter cutoff.

- i got it a couple of weeks ago and was making noise with it within minutes of getting it out of the box. as someone before me said, it's capable of extreme sounds even without the onboard distortion. for a little more than the price of a good pedal you can get a versatile sound source that can also be used as a sequencer or effects processor. it's really a pretty good deal for the price

- Actually reviewing the ER-1 rythmn synth since there's no other place for it. Don't be fooled into thinking this is nothing but an electronic drum machine, ignore that play button, hit one of the 4 percussion synth pads, and adjust the controls. Best results occur when the decay is maxed out, then you have something of a sustaining tone to work with, although the pads will still have to be struck every second or two. A good variety of rough synth textures can be coaxed out of this thing w/o much effort - Merzbowesque filter sweeps are easy, and if you're familiar w/ that "ripping" synth sound on the Kazamoto Endo 7"s the ER-1 will do that too. Ring-modulated tones, odd attack times, cut-up jumbled mess, not to mention various Atari style video game noises. Great machine for noise, just remember to give it a chance and fiddle w/ those knobs.

- A good little analog modeler... You can get some really good lows and highs, and okay mids too... It has a 3 mods on it, the standard square, triangle and sawtooth waveforms (as well as being able to hook other audio gear into it and use the mods) with your resonance, cutoff, and wave modeling. It has distortion, flange, chorus, delay, and reverb. It stores the knob tweaking you do, and other stuff I don't remember. Comes with an AC adapter.
- Good Points: Really good lows...Really nice highs!!! Tweaking it is really easy, and its really instantly gratifying. Programming it is extrememly easy, and you really can get some harsh noise out of it, without the use of any additional effects (indeed even without the use of the onboard distortion). But with other effects, you can turn out some really cool noise. A great price for this synth.
- Bad Points: If you try to really fine tune on the knobs, they just don't respond. That can be detremental sometimes when you are cranked all the way up and you just need to tweak a little bit of Ring Mod. The onboard effects are just okay (like any respectable noisician will use onboard effects anyway).
