Maxon Distortion and Sustainer

Maxon Distortion and Sustainer

A traditional transistor distortion device, the D&S provides extremely long sustain and distortion without altering your signal's tone. Its three controls: Distortion, Tone, and Balance (Level) can provide a wide variety of distortion effects, from subtle overdrive to extreme fuzz - all with incredibly low signal-to-noise ratio and full-bandwidth frequency response.

  • a potential ball of noise in a box. raises the noise floor substantially when turned on, good as a first point in a chain because it hums and fizzes, also cool for making source sounds sound a bit overdriven to completely blown out. i do make noise music with guitars so hear me out. single coil pick ups + this pedal + large output transformers in an amplifier = all kinds of crazy feedback frequencies. the tone knob either warms it out or brightens it up, you can also get some relatively substantial gain with the output knob as well. well built, cool pedal.
  • Good Points: nice range of tones. substantial noise floor boost when engaged. lots of harmonic potential.
  • Bad Points: the little knob for output volume is sort of hard to move with your toe but if you're using it as a tabletop unit, nevermind.
