Mu-Tron Mu-Tron III
The Mu-Tron III is an optical phaser whose sweep is driven by a built-in envelope follower rather than a fixed-rate LFO. Its sensitivity control sets how strongly the input signal's amplitude triggers the filter sweep, while the range control adjusts the depth and width of the phasing effect. The phaser's characteristic notched, sweeping tone is produced by a series of phase-shift stages that are modulated by the envelope, creating a dynamic response that follows picking dynamics and note attack. - I picked up one of these from a 2nd hand shop back in 96 or 97 for because it "didn't work". It only had a bit of dirt in the switches, I cleaned it and it was back in business. I was only into metal at the time so I wasn't overly impressed with it's capabilities and sold it to a mate... that mate wont sell it back! I don't think it would be very good in a noise loop as it relies on amplitude dynamics in order to do its thing(just like any other envelope filter).
