It has two knobs: Level and Distortion. This is a loud pedal, but it can be noisy with the gain set too high.

  • Compared to the Taiwan black box model (I have one of each) this gives a much smoother distortion, but overall is lower in output. You have to crank the level control further, that's all. Lovely smooth singing tone, long sustain and tips into feedback nicely. Works really well before a delay pedal.
  • Good Points: Smooth tone, never harsh. Built like the proverbial brick ***house!
  • Bad Points: Not as transparent as the Taiwan black box.

  • This distortion was made around he same time as the famous Ross Compressor and is a compliment to any noiser's setup. With both the 'distortion' and 'level' knobs turned all the way up, you can get some rather loud buzzy distorted sounds out of this.
  • Good Points: Good 'n' loud distortion
  • Bad Points: No LED! You can hear the switch being turned off and on....
