Zoom Driver 5000

Zoom Driver 5000

An easy to use distortion pedal with 4 knobs: Gain, Out, Treble and Bass. It's a high gain pedal that has a wide variety of tones and depending on the rest of your equipment, it can make everything you own sound like synthetic junk or awesomely huge.

  • I got one of these at a pawn shop for 35$ and was somewhat disappointed. There was a huge gain loss. The overdrive its self was not bad, but did nothing for me. The amp models which are accessed from the orange nob sound like steep EQ presets and did nothing for me, though the zoombox pre sounded best to me. I traded the pedal back in for a peavey compressor and some credit after a week. oh it takes like 6 or 8 AA batteries.
  • Good Points: Cheap. Cool GorKaMorka!!! case. Works.
  • Bad Points: EQ presets shit on my sound.

  • For me (and most of you too i guess) zoom is the equivalence of bad sound quality, cheap digital, plastic sound and case kind of shit. But the zoom 5000 is a difference! Its made in the more early days of zoom and its analog (i guess) might be they forgot the quality stuff of the past. ITS a distortion. You have the regular pots for tone level and dist. but the difference is the switch between 6 kinds of heavy distortion. Also there is a noise reduction pot. I use the one in a line for feedback kind of music. The pots are very sensitive. sometimes even too sensitive because its getting quite fast to self occilation, which will damage the sounds i actually 'd like to produce. But if you take care its a nice tool to change sounds in a various way. If you'd like to make power electronics this is a pedal for you. Sounds are damaged so radically, every sound will be usefull!! But if you are more into quite "listenable" impro electronics like me. first check it out
