This is typecast as a replacement for the metalzone. That's actually not so inaccurate. You want it for brutal distortion without cutting lows (unless you ask it to by setting the EQ). This is actually a very musical pedal. The distorted sounds come out clear and loud, and the response to eq tweaking is smooth. It's loud enough for me. I've come to like the tight, staticky digital distortion sound of "death metal" pedals, so it's a bit of a change.
Good Points: -Usually Cheap
-Low noise/high gain
Bad Points: -Missing some of the "compressed" sound of digital high gain distortion pedals

Nice alternative to a Metal Zone. Same type of distortion and total capabilities, but with less noise and better EQ shaping. The output isn't quite as high, but the bass is clearer without the buzzy humming sound. The mids are highly tweakable, and the highs are right on. Gain control covers a wide range and sounds good throughout with the appropriate application. Would prefer a little more boost on the output.
