Zvex Wah Probe

Zvex Wah Probe

The Wah Probe has a theremin-style antenna controlling a wah. It includes a Super Hard-On boost circuit in front of the wah, with a knob to set the exact level of boost for driving your wah sound. It can be turned up high enough to make the wah crack up a little for that "something's gonna blow" sound. It gets pretty darn loud!

  • I was initially attracted to this by it's unique resonant sound, which doesn't really sound like any other wah that i've heard. If you've heard the Zvex Ooh-Wah/Seek Wah you'll know what I mean. It has a wonderfully bright sound to it, kind of springy..... However, despite the fantastic tone I found this thing to perform very badly noise-wise. It just doesn't seem to have a strong enough character to warrant the whopping price tag, and all to often I found it just getting completely lost in the melee. I was therefore forced to return it, which is a shame. I reckon the average guitarist would get a lot more use out of this thing.
  • Good Points: - Cool springy tone. - Sturdy construction. - The interface seems to lend itself to being used on a tabletop pretty well.
  • Bad Points: - Expensive. - Sound is not really strong enough to be of much use for noise purposes.
