Danelectro Fab Chorus D-5

Danelectro Fab Chorus D-5

The Danelectro Fab Chorus D-5 is modeled after great vintage chorus boxes from the 1970's. It has a wide array of chorus intensity and speed to choose from and has a wonderfully warm sound without adding a bunch of distortion.

  • I love Danelectro FAB pedals and this one is no exception. Like the other reviews say, this "thickens" your sound wonderfully; a thin feedback signal becomes a warbling mess with added harmonics. Put it in a chain near a suitably harsh distortion and a wavering, grating mess ensues. I can't stand chorus as a guitar effect, but this little blue meanie is a nice addition to my set-up.
  • Good Points: Cheap - surprisingly versatile - a good "thickener" - sometimes gives nice near-comb filter effects
  • Bad Points: Dials in a dumb place - can get lost if placed incorrectly in a loop

  • First off, I don't like standard modulation effects very much, flangers, phasers, and the such, and that includes chorus. I only bought this on a whim because it's 14 dollars NEW. I wanted to see what it would do to a feedback loop, and the answer is "not much". BUT... I started using it with vocals and distortion... and with delay... and as an all purpose "thickening agent"... and now I'm in love with this blue piece of plastic. I've rethought my stance on chorus because of this pedal, go ahead and skip Taco Bell for a couple days and you can afford it.
  • Good Points: cheap
  • Bad Points: I don't like the placement of the knobs. It's not so much that it's weird to twist them while playing, but that they get in the way of the metal jacks on my patch cables. I have to use slimmer plastic patch cables for this pedal.

  • I like this thing, it can get the pitch heka wobbly. Not a real rich chorus but a good cheap effect box.
  • Good Points: lots of range to the tone oscillation.
  • Bad Points: not a great rich chorus

  • whippedy doo dad chorus. adds some nifty shimmer to the noiz. nothing to intense unless you put it in a feedback loop. but it's very useful for adding some pretty to the death.
  • Good Points: brand new. great construction. blue LED. small footprint. did i mention cheap as hell?
  • Bad Points: not as many tweeks but that's not why you would buy it.
